Gorgeous flowers of witch hazel. Freshly picked and the other a few days picked. So happy to have this friend in the orchard 💚

Witch hazel (Hamamelis virginiana) is one of the best wound herbs; refrigerant and astringent, helping to contract tissues, and reduce secretions and inflammation.

I use witch hazel extract in my varicose vein gel, along with aloe Vera gel, infused calendula oil and lavender essential oil.

Today I manifest the ideas and conversations I’ve been having with my herbs for ages. Herbal elixirs that have jiggeted about in my head for months, finally ready to be bottled and shared.

It’s been a quiet time for me as I tentatively reach within to the femenome. The femenome asks/whispers/gently beckons for something else… quiet, and willingness to listen.
A far cry from my usual state of being: clenched, with a nagging sense that I’m missing out on something, or not doing enough.

So I dig the garden, pull weeds with my gloved hands, my skin is so sensitive that the rich hummus of the earth inflames my pelt. Harvest roots and make them into medicine. Rhythmic repetition, keeping faith and patience. 🕯

My most dearly loved herb. Restorative and soothing for the lungs, a warming expectorant, immune supporting, grounding for nervy dispositions, bitter to stimulate digestion- what’s not to love?
Tho they do look a little like spider alien roots 🕷😳😆🤩

Excellent to take alone as respiratory/immune support, and it’s in my Autumn herbal drops for respiratory care.

I’ll be adding this root tincture to the tincture I made from the flowers and leaves in summer, for a divine whole plant medicine!
Echinacea is a tonic for the immune and lymphatic systems. Anti-microbial, stimulating to the circulation, anti-oxidant, and anti-inflammatory. This glorious plant ally encourages movement and healing.
